THE GOVERNOR OF EDO STATE, H.E. GODWIN OBASEKI LEADS THE TOP LEADERS OF SECURITIES INSTITUTIONS OF EDO STATE TO VISIT NIGERIA YONGXING COMPANY FOR SAF

Editor’s note: In the middle of October, “ENDSARS” took place in the whole of the Nigeria, causing the turbulence of whole of the country. The early demonstrations were peaceful and restrained, and their demands were benefit to the democratic progress and also benefit to the overall reform of the Nigeria’s highly criticized police system. But as the protests lengthened and the demands multiplied, the government was unable to meet them all at once. Meanwhile, some social hoodlums mixed into the procession, and they “hijacked” and used this peaceful demonstrations and they started to smash and rob to make troubles in some cities. The fist biggest city of Nigeria－Lagos is in chaos.

Benin city of Edo state that located in the south of the Nigeria was also affected by the demonstrations. The demonstrations that were hijacked by the social hoodlums also caused the chaos in the flourishing area and the main roads. And some Benin enterprises that included some of the Chinese enterprises were also affected with different levels of the damages. Edo state government immediately took a powerful union measures and imposed the state curfew. The chaos was quickly and effectively controlled. After knowing Chinese companies suffered different levels harassment, the governor of Edo state, H.E. Godwin Obaseki led the top leaders of security institutions of Edo state to visit Chinese companies for safety guidance and condolence.

On October 21th, the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki together with the state top leaders of security institutions came to the Nigeria Yongxing Company. They inspected the company’s security and defense, and guided the company’s security, and they required the security that: “Today, all of the top leaders of safety institutions of Edo state are here, I require all of the company’s soldiers must seriously do the security job, and ensure absolute safety of the property and personnel of foreign companies. If there is any mistakes, we will prosecuted the company’s security!”

During the visit, the governor and the top leaders of Nigeria Yongxing Company had a friendly conversation. The governor concerned about the production, operation and the personnel status of Nigeria Yongxing Company. The governor said: “Please rest assured, the state government have ability and have faith to protect all of the rights and interests of all the foreign companies. This hijacked demonstrations are just a farce of few hoodlums, and it is already been controlled. In order to let you to run your business, we will increase the security forces again for all of the foreign-invested enterprises. Please rest assured, continue to operate and produce with a peaceful mind.”

    The visiting of the governor encouraged us, removed everybody’s worries about the external situation and promoted the confidence of Chinese enterprises of their investment work in Nigeria. By the end of press time, the demonstrations already stopped within whole of the Nigeria. It was seemed that nothing happened and people started to have a normal work and life.But we still hope that the demonstration's good intention - to promote reform of the police will eventually be implemented, making Nigeria a more stable and friendly place to do business.
