April is a normal January in others’ eyes, but it is not normal in the hearts of Yongxing Ironmen. Since Nigeria Yongxing steel factory was put into the preparation, it has encountered many difficulties including the language barrier, the vagaries of climate, the low level of the local labor force ...... but it still bravely moved forward.
The month of April in 2013 is the key month of success of Yong Xing steel.
The difficulties and challenges were unprecedented for the Nigeria Yong Xing Steel Company in April. Steel structures, equipment, accessories and container were concentrated in late march, and April is a phase of steel plant installation, equipment installation and adjustment. These installation work, more than 80% are heavy equipments which are even dozens of tons, requiring the cooperation of construction machinery. The installation of steel structure almost are all overhead work of ten meters or twenty meters high, thus the demand for cranes was very frequent. At ordinary times, these devices can meet the demand, but in the current when the work carried out simultaneously, it became very difficult. In order to finish on time, company took shift operation mode and non-aerial work was carried out at night to the greatest extent.
The installation was nearly 20,000 square meters with workshop steel structure. The workload was huge. But because of the aerial work, it should be carried out during the daytime to ensure the safe construction. If there is only one crane during the day, the construction schedule will delay a lot. Company leaders planned in advance, arranging rented crane from Nigeria to assist. They had contacted 3 cranes to assist operation, but due to the impact of local development , the crane which could be hired was an old-age "classic cars". They can not meet the demands both from the level of technic and working speed. To compensate the deficiencies from crane itself, the company's infrastructure ministry decided to redeploy the only translators as a temporary crane dispatcher in order to improve the utilization of cranes.
In April, the weather is more changeable. Almost every afternoon it snaps to a downpour, leading construction machinery vehicles fail to enter the workshop floor and a lot of outdoor work could not be carried out smoothly. Faced with the bad weather condition, our Nigeria’s colleagues did not back down. You can always found groups of people still working hard in the rain except the operations that could not be carried out in the rain outside. From time to time we could hear the prayers from the Nigeria’s colleagues, hoping less rain without concerning the hot weather.
Some darkened, some thinned. The road ahead was full of difficulties and challenges, but the belief remained unchanged. The company’s executive went to the scene every day to encourage the front-line staffs. Nigeria’s engineers also went to the site to guide the staff hand by hand. Our colleagues, who could not speak Mandarin fluently now became the standard "foreign language expert." Because the on-site translator was limited, they had learned to communicate and exchange with the Nigerian, forming a rich "Sino-Nepalese language" full of Chinese characteristics.
The lack of equipment, the unpredictable weather, the arduous task and the language barriers ...... Although facing those difficulties, our colleagues were still firmly moving forward. To finish installation of steel structure at an early date was the dream of the Yongxing company’s staff. Against the hot sun, our colleagues were not in fear, because they were the iron-fighters. They proved to us to conquer the difficulties with actions. Come on, warriors! Let us use a Nigeria's native langua
